This is one very loud
guitar bodied octave mandolin!
This guitar bodied octave mandolin was a commission from a chap in Ireland. I’m very happy with it – the first 22″ scale octave mandolin I’ve made with a guitar body. The tuning is standard OM tuning – GDAE. Often these short scale instruments lack power, but this one is built not just for speed (the new owner is a tune player) but to be heard.
Now with great power comes great responsibility, so if you do get one of these, keep in mind you’ll be the loudest in the room. That’s not always a blessing!
