The best guitar I’ve ever played….

This is the best guitar ever made.

You hear that a lot don’t you? “This is the best guitar I’ve ever played…”  or “This is the best guitar ever made…” You can read it often if you spend enough time on the web, that’s for sure. It’s a bit of a delusion really to think that one guitr is better than all others. And I’m not immune from it either. This is the best guitar I’ve ever played. It’s my 1890’s Howe Orme.  It’s the one that spoke to me more than any other guitar I’ve ever played or made. That’s quite an admission.

The guitar is getting on a bit, had a few repairs here and there. Looks to me like the neck is a replica (but whoever did it made a fine job of it.) But it’s the sound and the feel that gets me every time.

This guitar taught me a great deal about guitar making. About what is and what is not important. About which popular guitar construction theories are delusional and which may be based in reality.

If you get the oppertunity to own a Howe Orme, take it. You won’t be dissapointed.
